LINCOLN, Neb.—Monolith Inc., best known for its sustainable carbon black, hydrogen and ammonia production, has hired Charles Firth as its next vice president of safety.
Firth will be responsible for safety protocol and ensuring regulatory compliance as those issues relate to the Olive Creek Phase I and Olive Creek Phase II projects in Hallam, Neb., just outside of Lincoln.
"I am honored to lead the safety team at Monolith and further our 'Safety Matters Most' core value," Firth said. "It is an exciting time for the company, and I look forward to leveraging my diverse background to implement new environmental, health and safety initiatives."
With the tagline "Change Your Environmental Story ," the company is marketing all its products—carbon black, hydrogen and ammonia—as the world works its way toward a green 2050.
Monolith uses a proprietary methane pyrolysis method to produce these sustainable products from natural gas.
Prior to Monolith, Firth served as vice president of Environmental, Health and Safety at BKEP Materials in Denver, Col.

Monolith employs more than 200 people around the world and was founded in 2012.
The Hallam expansion—namely Olive Creek Phase II, scheduled for completion in 2026—is expected to limit GHG emissions by nearly 1 million tons per year while creating approximately 1,000 jobs, according to Monolith.
Monolith is backed by Azimuth Capital Management, Cornell Capital, Decarbonization Partners, Imperative Ventures, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries America, NextEra Energy Resources Inc., Perry Creek Capital, SK, TPG Rise Climate and Warburg Pincus.
